The Nature of the Economy 

The Reserve Bank of Australia’s public 

education program is committed to supporting 

students and teachers of economics and 

economics-related subjects. We have 

developed a suite of resources aimed to 

support a number of commerce and economics 

curriculum objectives for Years 7–10. 

Students will be introduced to the Australian 

economy and its participants, learn about the 

five-sector circular flow model of the economy, 

and explore how the business cycle affects  

the economy.
