The Name of the Course: Specific Features of Television for Cameramen

Year 3, Term 5

The Scope of the Course: 64 hours (2 seminars, 1 additional test).

4 credit points. Type of Assessment: an oral examination which consists of two parts: a theoretical part and the analysis of a TV programme indicating the peculiarities of the cameraman’s work.

The Content of the Course: The basic theme of the course is the peculiarities of the cameraman’s work in various TV programmes. (The most popular type - work in TV journalism - is studied in a separate course.) Two subsections are acquired: the transformation of traditional forms of art for television and sports broadcasting, and the programmes organised by TV itself. In order to understand the peculiarities of the cameraman’s work the characteristics of the very genres are also studied. Moreover, the course enables the students to get ready for the course “Cameraman’s Work in Staging”. Half of the course is devoted to the watching of video materials and the participation in the creation of TV programmes.

Preconditions for the Acquisition of the Course: The material of the previous parts of the course should be cquired.
