The bar chart demonstrated/ gives information on / the number of car journeys made by residents and non-residents in the city centre for a 9-year period.

Overall, the number of car journeys per day into city centre for the residents decreased as subsequent of introducing a parking meters. However, he non-residents number of car journeys decreased only after closing two streets.

To began with/ for residents, it can be seen that the car journeys made by residents into city centre remained stable at above 90,000 car before the introduction of parking meters between 1999 and 2000. This figure was the highest number of car journeys made per day during the chart period. The number of residents car then decreased drastically / slipped sharply almost to half at around 50000 when parking meters introduced into city centre between 1999 and 2000. Then this figure further decreased after closing two street to its lowest at around / at 33000 car journeys from 2003 to 2005, which was less than three times than its highest at the beganing of the chart with more 98,000 car. This figure fluctuated by the end of the chart.

For the non-residents, the number of car journeys made into city centre increased/ were upward to reach its highest at 80,000 cars per day. This figure leveled off/remained stable and overtook the majority of cars in city centre even after introducing parking meters in 2000. However, this figure slipped sharply/declined deeply to its lowest after closing two streets at below 3000 cars. Although the residents cars traffic in city centre remained stable, the non-residents traffic increased to overtake the residents cars at above 4000 cars by the end of the chart. The decline of the figure of residents cars into city centre during the period of chart remained
uncovered, whereas the number of cars for the non-residents cars recovered even after the policies introduced.
