The class, English for speakers of other languages methods, is one of the two courses in Fall 2. ESOL class is one of the most crucial courses to study since lessons help us to achieve various personal goals, such as learning enough English to meet daily communication needs, as well as interacting with other people. As it is obvious from the acronym, that ESOL program is for students with language backgrounds other than English. I have a lot of work-, and education-related goals, like learning how to conduct business, as well as achieve professional development. Thus, I expect this course to help me succeed in my aims.

The first lesson was related to different methods and approaches which I have general knowledge from my SLA class. However, one of the most important things that I learned from the initial ESOL class was about the eclectic approach in teaching English. Larsen-Freeman (2000) and Mellow (2000) to describe a desirable, coherent, pluralistic approach to language teaching have used the term principled eclecticism.

When it comes to the data, which I would like to get more is about the precise differences of various methods, as some methods are not based on clear language and language learning theory. In other words, problems associated with methods are the inquiries which I want to acquire further information.
