The bar chart illustrates how many hours were spent on 7 activities by adolescents in Chester each week between 2002 and 2017
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that, over the entire period /span given, watching TV was the most widespread activity amongst the teenagers, whereas, bowling was the least favourite. Going to pubs/discos, watching TV and shopping made an upward trend in the amount of time teenagers spent on these activities. Doing homework and sport showed a decrease in hours except for watching DVDs which was erratic.
As is shown on the graph, the amount time spent on watching TV was 25 hours per week during two years (2002 and 2003) after which it increased to approximately 40 hours per week in the final year. Teenagers playing bowling spent approximately 4 hours in 2002, then the amount of time for bowling went down to just 1 hour in 2007. Both going to pubs/discos and shopping which stood at around 5 hours more than doubled and went up to over 15 and exactly 15 respectively.
The occupied time for doing homework was over 10 hours in 2002, then, the figure gradually decreased to over 5 hours in 2007. The amount of time spent on playing sports was exactly 10 hours in 2002 then dropped more dramatically to 3 hours in the final year. The number of hours adolescents dedicated to watching DVDs was 10 hours in the starting/first and final year, however the figure reached a high of over 15 hours in 2004 and 2005.
