Course Subject:
In this course, students analyze the principles of starting new ventures. They examine issues such as the definition of entrepreneurship, who is an entrepreneur, what opportunities are (how to identify them), how to build a team, financing of new ventures and how to go from the ‘start-up’ stage and beyond. They will explore the fundamental problems that entrepreneurs may encounter, and potential solutions. The course assesses development of new approaches and strategies, as well as effects of changes at the national and international level. Practical solutions would be studied with experiences shared by guest-speakers. There will be an analysis of case studies, biographies of famous entrepreneurs, and key elements of entrepreneurship. In this context, students taking the course will acquire skill on the basics of business and management, including; The basic concepts of economic life and business, principles of management, objectives of businesses, different types of businesses, general and specific cases of business environments and business eco-systems will be discussed in lectures. The course includes studies in order to acquire skills and knowledge on the principles of management and the main functions of businesses. Furthermore, the functions of social and ethical responsibilities of business, enterprise investments and enterprise investment research, legal structures, business mergers, principles of business management and management functions, business production, marketing, accounting and finance and human resource management functions are subjects of this course.
