Summer School/Credit Recovery Program 2013
A Summer School/Credit Recovery Program will be available to students currently enrolled in grades 9-12 in the Tuscaloosa County School System. Enrollment priority will be given to current seniors (cohort 2013) and current juniors (cohort 2014).
The five high schools hosting the summer school/credit recovery program are Brookwood High School, Hillcrest High School, Holt High School, Sipsey Valley High School, and Tuscaloosa County High School. Students from Northside High School will attend the program hosted at Tuscaloosa County High School.
The host schools have requested flexibility for the dates and times in which to operate their program. The specific dates and times selected for operation of each program are as follows:

    June 3^rd through July 31^st: Monday through Wednesday

    8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
    
  • 
    No classes during the week of July 1^st through July 5^th.

  Hillcrest High School

    June 5^th through July 25^th: Monday through Thursday
    
    • 
      Term I – June 5^th through June 25^th
      
    • 
      Term II – July 8^th through July 26^th
      
  • 
    8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
    
  • 
    No classes during the week of July 1^st through July 5^th.

  • 
    June 3^rd through June 27^th: Monday through Thursday
    
  • 
    8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

  Sipsey Valley High School

    June 3^rd through July 25^th: Monday through Thursday

    8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
    
  • 
    No classes during the week of July 1^st through July 5^th.

  Tuscaloosa County High School

    June 3^rd through August 1^st: Monday through Thursday.

      Term I – June 3^rd through June 25^th
      
      • 
        Term I will offer a morning session from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
        
    • 
      Term II – July 8^th through August 1^st
      
      • 
        Term II will offer a morning session only from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

    No classes during the week of July 1^st through July 5^th.
    

The credit recovery fee of $100.00 will be the fee for the summer program. Unofficial fee waivers may be applicable for students identified as free/reduced. Also, if students have not had an opportunity to receive the instruction for the course prior to summer 2013, those students will not be charged tuition for the summer.

Students requiring a Carnegie unit in English, social studies, and/or science will be provided an opportunity to earn the credit via OdysseyWare or ACCESS.
Students requiring a Carnegie unit in math will be provided an opportunity to earn a credit via face-to-face instruction, credit recovery, or combination of both.
Applications for each school’s summer school/credit recovery program will be made available to eligible students this month.
There are 100 OdysseyWare site licenses available to the high schools to utilize during summer 2013. The site licenses may be utilized concurrently.
The Summer School/Credit Recovery Programs will be each of the six high schools except Northside High. The initial distribution of OdysseyWare site licenses is as follows:

  Brookwood High School – 17 site licenses
  
• 
  Hillcrest High School – 17 site licenses
  
• 
  Holt High School – 16 site licenses
  
• 
  Sipsey Valley High School – 16 site licenses
  
• 
  Tuscaloosa County High School – 34 site licenses
  

In previous years, the facilitators of the summer school/credit recovery program were paid $50.00 per 1.5 hours. It has been requested for the face-to-face teachers to be paid a higher rate of pay for their services.
