Entry 1. Descriptive Report of the teaching context

    1. Descriptive Report

The purpose of this descriptive report is to describe my teaching practice at the secondary school №49. Firstly, we took part in the conference held in the Samarkand State institute of Foreign languages. Then we went to the school №49. The teaching practice consisted of two parts. The first part was passive practice and it began on September 4. The second, active practice which began on September 12 and lasted 48 days. During passive period we got acquainted with school, classes and observed English lessons of several classes conducted by the teacher. While observing we come found out some new interesting methods of teaching, assessing and analyzing pupils’ knowledge, how to work with materials and designing them and other interesting things.

Especially, I accompanied English lessons of primary grades. Our pedagogical practice lasted from February to April. During that time I tried to acquire teacher’s behavior and feel the atmosphere of the calls by participating in teaching process directly and I tried to conduct my own lessons. At the beginning of active practice we began teach pupils from time to time. Our supervisor explained us all teaching process step by step. She also showed us how to use methods and techniques correctly. In my active practice I taught 1, 2 forms then I chose them for my demo lessons. Before my demo lessons I found all tough materials, video and audio materials for preparing my lesson plans. Then, I prepared my lesson plans according to curriculum. Next step was choosing appropriate materials, teaching materials, flashcards and games for the lesson. Beforehand, I prepared my materials for teaching pupils and conducting my demo lessons.

Teaching primary school children is a process which demands more attention, patience and being a good actor. Otherwise, it is very difficult to call their attention. On starting my active practice I clarified the main aim of it. According to the educational aim, I tried to enlarge students' creativity, logical thinking and level of knowledge. I tried to take into consideration the pupils’ abilities, interests and best ways of motivating them.

During my active practice, I conducted 3 demo lessons. I realized that every lesson demands teacher getting preparation, working on organizing it and good lesson plan. In order not to lose time management and achieve the main goals from the lesson, I made lesson plans beforehand. Moreover, the material also has significant role on conducting the lesson well. I tried to find materials which accessible to learners, appropriating to their age and intellectual potentials.

3.4. Observation Report
This observation report deals with the teaching strategies of the teachers and environment of the classes at the school. In this report I will touch the behavioral features of both teachers and pupils as well. According to the requirements we had to observe not only the lessons of the school teachers, but also we had to observe and participate in the lessons of our group-mates. I observed two lessons of them with grades 1 and 2.

All lessons had something to learn and assimilate. Both of my group-mates conducted the lessons as well as possible. The lessons were well-organized, there were lesson plans completed with necessary materials. The teachers were very active during the lessons. The classrooms were very comfortable, clean and attractive with lots of interesting flashcards on the board. During lessons they tried to challenge the pupils to communicate, to express their own opinions and to be more active. There were reading tasks, writing tasks, materials to listen, sing and pronounce.

It is not so easy to gain something at once. Everything demands working hard, trying and creating something if we want achieve a goal. As future teachers, my group mates also had some points to make correct and pay attention for the next lessons. For instance, the classrooms were a bit noisy during the lessons. Moreover, there were inattentive pupils while explaining the new theme.

In conclusion, I realized that this teaching practice was very important for our future career since it showed us our errors, mistakes and achievements. Working with children is a process demanding to be a good psychologist. In the future, I am going to teach pupils at school and I will to use all my knowledge in practice and try not to forget them.



Reflective writing
I attempted to explain my practical process in the writing task. As I mentioned before our practice consisted of 60 days and through these days I got much useful information which would be necessary in my future profession, such as various methods, strategies, techniques approaches and other helping data too. This process divided into two parts: first part was passive practice which carried out in a week, second was active process and ended in fifty days.

Passive practice was only a week and we only observed the lessons, all lessons, not only English, and learnt everything which was connected to school, pupils, teaching. Moreover, we learnt pupils’ character, psychology and their attitude to teachers and learning English. Because, learning their character is important for teaching them and finding individual approach to each pupil. Besides observing, we also tried to find and gain tough materials for our lessons, demo lessons. We learned different methods, explaining new themes, new games, time management, and the features of good teachers and so on. Furthermore, we learnt to use lesson plans and how to prepare lesson plans beforehand.

After passive practice, which lasted a week, our active practice began. Active practice was the predominant period when we started to teach pupils really. I taught 7, 10, 11 forms then I chose 7 “A” for my demo lessons. Before lessons I tried to choose interesting, various materials according to pupils’ levels and our supervisor helped me with it. Teachers of school also gave their advice, directions and they showed their teaching methods, techniques. I observed lessons with interest and carefully. I tried to learn different teaching methods from different teachers.

According to methods and techniques, nearly in my entire lesson I regularly used communicative and direct method. I think due to these methods I was able to make pupils be more communicative. Moreover, I developed their listening skills as much as possible. I searched many activities form the internet and found many interesting and useful sources which I am sure can play a great role in my future job of English teacher. All texts and exercises come from Fly High and I collected a lot of necessary materials while conducting lessons and I made observations to my group mates. We were to conduct lessons three times a week and other days we should observe students’ lessons.

While teaching English to choose suitable method and approach is very important, because every time you should take different methods and approaches in order to make your lessons interesting and productive. That’s why I chose different methods every lesson.

During my practice I collected a lot of data to my future life while conducting lessons and I made observations to my group mates. We were to conduct lessons three times a week and other days we should observe students’ lessons.



To sum up, I should say that this practice gave us a big experience about school, teaching process which we had at school. We got a lot about teaching English. Because to be a teacher is not easy but honorable.
