SPORT IN MY LIFE

Sport in Our Life


People all over the world are fond of sports and games. Sport makes people healthy, it keeps them fit, it makes them more organized and better disciplined. It unites people of different classes and nationalities. Many people do sports on their personal initiative. They go in for skiing, skating, table tennis, swimming, volley-ball, football, body-building, etc.
All necessary facilities are provided for them in our country: stadiums, sport grounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, skiing stations, football fields.
Sport is paid much attention to in our educational establishments. Gymnastics is a part of children's daily activities in the kindergartens. Physical culture is a compulsory subject at schools and colleges.
Professional sport is also paid much attention to in our country. In the city, where I live, there are diferent sporting societies, clubs and complexes.
Practically all kinds of sports are popular in our country, but football, gymnastics and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity.
As for me, I go in for table tennis (ping-pong). It needs mobility, liveliness and much energy. It keeps me in a good form. I have been playing table tennis for five years, but the more I play, the more I like it. I get a real joy taking part in competitions or simply playing with my friends. Sometimes, I go to tennis courts. Certainly, there's a great difference between my manner of playing and such favourites as Jim Courier, Stephan Edberg, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, Per Korda, but I train with great pleasure and hope to play as well as the best players do.

Professional sport is also paid much attention to in our republic. There are different sporting societies clubs and complexes. The most famous of them are the Olympic complexes "Luzhniki", "Dynamo" stadium, etc. They are used for international and world competitions.
Practically all kinds of sports are popular in our republic but football; gymnastics and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity.
As for me, I go in for swimming. It needs mobility, liveliness and much energy. It keeps a person in a good form. I have been swimming for a 5 years. I get a real joy taking part in competitions or a simply swimming with my friends. Certainly, it`s a great distance between my manner of swimming and such favorites as Popov, but I do my training with great pleasure and hope to swim well as our best swimmers do.
Sport is very important in our life. The general belief is that a person who goes in for sports can’t be weak and ill. Physically inactive people get old earlier that those, who find time for sport activity. And of course good health is better than good medicine.
People all over the world are fond of sports and games. In our country sport is being widely popularized as well. The most popular kinds of sport are football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, figure-skating, aerobics, ping-pong and swimming. A lot of people are fond of jogging. In schools and colleges sport is a compulsory subject. Many young people attend sport sections. Some of them dream to become professional sportsmen.
As for me, I can’t imagine my life without sport. In summer I go jogging every morning and when I have free time I attend swimming pool. In winter I like to skate with my friends. It’s fun. Also I’m fond of aerobics. First of all aerobics helps to keep myself fit. It also attracts me because it resembles dancing.
In conclusion I’d like to say that I’m absolutely sure that doing sports is the best way to keep fit. Sport makes our bodies strong, it prevents us from getting too fat, and makes us more self-organized and better disciplined.
Everyone wants to be healthy. Good health affects the way people behave, work, and interact with each other. As the proverb goes, “Health is wealth.” Health is the key benefit provided by sports activities. People who exercise tend to be well-disciplined and stress-resistant. These qualities are essential for the effectiveness of personal and professional development.
Currently, there are many opportunities offered to those people who want to be fit. Fitness clubs and athletic centers are available for people of different ages. Also, there are public places for physical activities. Students are engaged in special school and university programs that guarantee their successful physical development. They can participate in different sports to find the most appealing athletic activity. Among them are running, swimming, fitness, cycling, football, and yoga, to name a few. Regular physical exercises help stimulate muscles and get better results in any sport.
As for me, my favorite sport is volleyball. This is a traditional team game that is very popular across the world. Playing volleyball teaches me how to become a leader, set goals, organize teamwork, and develop self-confidence and self-discipline.
My participation in sports competitions allows me to improve my physical fitness and mental abilities. Further success in my career depends on these aspects. The rules of this game are easy to understand. Two teams, consisting of six players each, play a match. This indoor game is played with a ball. The winner of the volleyball set is the team that gains 25 points. It’s important for every player to bat the ball over the net using their hands effectively. The key goal is to bat the ball in such a way that it touches the opponent team’s court.
It is very important to remember that before the game, you need to warm up so that your body is ready for physical exercise. Without a good warm-up, you might get an injury. Although the goal of any game is to win, safety comes first.
