VERVIEW
Eurasia Foundation (EF)
announces a notice of funding opportunity for Social Idea Accelerator Grants
for applicants from Uzbekistan. Social Idea Accelerator Grants are intended for implementers of youth-
led and/or youth-oriented projects so they can replicate and scale-up the successes of those initiatives.
These
grants are a component of
Social Innovation in Central Asia (SICA)
, a five-year program funded
by the United States Agency for International Development and implemented by Eurasia Foundation.
The goal of the program is to cultivate a vibrant and responsive civil society in Central Asia.
Social Idea Accelerator Grants (SI Accelerator Grants) are designed to support emerging youth leaders
from Uzbekistan to replicate or scale-up their existing and successfully implemented project(s)
throughout the region that will contribute to social,
economic, cultural or environmental development
in their communities. Projects must be both led by youth and focus on youth beneficiaries.
SI Accelerator Grant project applications must:

Link to a successful, existing youth-led project (priority will be given to previous Youth
Leadership Grant projects)
•
Identify a priority problem or challenge that the local community needs to address
•
Describe their plans for the efficient use of funding in scaling-up
their existing project
•
Describe how the project will support gender equality and integration
•
Demonstrate and promote positive change in practice in the community to address the identified
problem or challenge using
innovative approach
Applicants should adhere to one or more of the priority projects area(s), but not limited to:
•
Creation of mechanisms for involving citizens in solving community problems
•
Mechanisms for youth participation in decision-making
•
Youth participation in transparency and anticorruption issues
•
Issues related to the protection
of human rights
•
The use of IT solutions in solving social or public problems
•
The use of creative or experimental approaches in the development of local communities in
the social area
•
Transforming community development through arts and culture
•
Creation of mechanisms for improvement of public services.
The SICA team highly recommends that all applicants
complete the online, self-guided Social
Innovation course prior to submitting a proposal. This is a unique offering for members of civil society
in Central Asia completely free of charge. Upon completion of the course, participants will have a clear
understanding of the concept of social innovation and approaches to fostering innovation. Preference
will be given to applicants who complete the course. The course is available in
