ABSTRACT
Tourism has become one of the leading sectors of the global economy and in this regard, Uzbekistan is paying special attention to the modernization of its tourism for foreign guests, in order to meet the international standards. In recent years in Uzbekistan, along with traditional forms of travel, ecotourism, medical tourism and gastronomic tourism have also developed. Uzbekistan places particular emphasis on the modernization of the tourism industry, the development and improvement of the regulatory framework for the sustainable development of the industry, and the organization of tourist services in accordance with international standards. Government policy is aimed at developing tourism, so that this area in the future should become one of the drivers for accelerating the integrated development of regions and their infrastructure, helping to solve such important socio-economic tasks as creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs, ensuring diversification and accelerated development of regions increasing incomes, the level and quality of life of the population, increasing the volume of foreign exchange earnings, improving the image and investment attractiveness of the country.
The work is devoted to the study of the comparative analysis that determine the development of tourism in Uzbekistan and Turkey, which has recently become one of the world leaders in tourist arrivals and is one of the country’s most visited by the citizens of the Russian Federation. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, regulatory documents and statistical data on the country, a SWOT analysis of tourism development in Turkey was carried out. The richest natural resources and cultural and historical potential of the country, as well as the active promotion of the national tourist product in the international market, are attributed to the strongest aspects of tourism development. Weaknesses include the unstable economic situation, insufficient quality of services provided and ensuring the safety of tourists, persistent seasonal and territorial unevenness in the distribution of tourist flows and income from tourism. Domestic political problems, conflicts with neighboring countries, proximity to "hot spots", along with environmental problems act as threats to tourism development. However, the diversification envisaged by the Tourism Development Strategy until 2023 types of tourism, involvement in the tourist use of new territories and orientation to new ones, incl. Asian markets, should contribute to the transformation of the country into a tourist destination of global importance and ensure Turkey's entry into the number of leading countries in terms of tourism receipts. The experience of successfully using available resources and promoting the national tourism product of Turkey can also be used to develop tourism in other countries, including Russia.
