Background Information

Transaction Per Second (TPS)
TPS refers to the number of transactions or events that the SPS can process per second. The TPS is an important indicator used to evaluate the system processing capability. As shown in Figure 1, the transaction package contains a Request message received by the DRA and an Answer message sent by the DRA (messages 1 and 4), or a Request message sent by the DRA and an Answer message received by the DRA (messages 2 and 3).

Message Per Second (MPS)
MPS refers to the number of messages that the system can process per second. The MPS is an important measurement of the system processing capability. As shown in Figure 2, the MPS signaling contains a Receive messages received by the SSR and a Send message sent by the SSR.

Message Signaling Unit (MSU)
Each MSU SS7 signaling contains a Receive message received by the STP and a Send message sent by the STP, as shown in Figure 3.

The signaling service processing system (SPS) can be used as the SIP signaling router (SSR) and Diameter routing agent (DRA) in a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or Diameter signaling network or as the signaling transfer point (STP) in a Signaling System No.7 (SS7) network. Table 1, Table 2, and Table 3 list the performance specifications of the SPS.
