Methods and Means 
 A person who is in the process of actively realizing the potential of the 
information society acquires a unique cultural experience. In the process of formation 
and development of socio-cultural competence, the student not only receives and uses 
information, but also enriches his cultural experience and instills in the minds of the 
priorities of society. 
It is important to emphasize the importance of the gradual acquisition of socio-
cultural information and content in the context of socio-cultural competence and its 
transformation into individual experience: information perception (actualization of 
subjective experience); comprehension of information (synthesis of consciousness and 
socio-cultural experience); application of the gained experience in effective forms of 
the activity (determination of value-semantic status in creative activity); evaluation and

comparison (interpretation, development of personal values priority). 
The system of socio-cultural knowledge and skills in the structure of socio-
cultural competence serves to establish the relationship between knowledge and the 
situation, to identify the problem, to find an effective solution to it. The formation of 
socio-cultural skills is directly related to the student’s ability to adapt socio-cultural 
norms and values. Therefore, it is advisable to use technologies in the educational 
process that allow students to master cultural norms and values in various forms of 
activity. The socio-cultural competence is considered as an integral characteristic of a 
person in the culturological paradigm of education, manifested in the presence of 
knowledge in different areas of social culture (moral, national, legal, confessional); 
interest in learning it; readiness to communicate with people in different life situations 
in accordance with its values; indicates the formation of socially significant motives of 
behavior. 
The basis of socio-cultural competence is the knowledge of the social culture of 
society, the priority of the spiritual and moral rules, the forms and methods of 
interpersonal communication. In general, the student understands the socium or society 
mainly in broad(world, country) and narrow (family, school, neighborhood) senses, 
and his socio-cultural competence is determined by the degree to which he has 
mastered these two interrelated concepts. It is not only about the cultural characteristics 
of the world, a particular region, country or people, or social institutions such as school 
and family, but also about the peculiarities of human relations, traditions and customs, 
and the rules of etiquette. 
One of the most effective ways to develop socio-cultural competence is to form 
in these students a solid knowledge of socio-culture, the features of its manifestation, 
the rules of etiquette and interpersonal relationships and interactions in each case.
