Samarkand is considered one of the industrial centres of Uzbekistan. There several plants and factories acting in Samarkand region, such as: SamAUTO, JV MAN AVTO, 8- march textile factory, BAT Uzbekistan, Daka tex, Sam Antep Gilam, Praga Pivo, JV Agro Mir, Samarkand lift plant, Sino, Samarkand kimyo.
Like most cities of Central Asia Samarkand is divided into two parts: old and new city. New part is an administrative part of the city, including industrial and cultural centers, high educational institutions. Old part of the city includes historical monuments, shops, workshops, old private houses. Generally, an excursion is held in the old part of the city. Samarkand numbers 670 thousands people. This is multinational city, more than 100 nations live in Samarkand. It takes second place in Uzbekistan by number of population and territory. Now we are passing by Mirzo Ulugbek Street where Samarkand Agricultural Institute is located. High qualified specialists on different agricultural branches are prepared here. One of Amir Temur’s gardens Bogi Shamol was located here and thats why this area is called so.
Now we are passing by Children’s Surgery Centre where work High qualified specialists. Pay attention to Dinamo Stadium which was built in 1963. But it was reconstructed for several times.
Now we are approaching Bustansaroy Street. Many centuries before there was a Palace of Amir Temur. Further there was Temur’s residence Kuk Saroy.
Dear Guests we are passing by University Bulvar where Foreign Languages Institute is situated. High qualified specialists of 12 foreign languages are trained here. Monument of Amir Temur was erected in 1996 by the initiative of the Head of the State.
We are passing by University Bolivar the length of which is 1000 meters, where Samarkand State University’s departments are located. University was established in 1927 and is considered to be one of the most important universities in Uzbekistan. Now we are approaching to Amir Temur’s mausoleum which was built in 1403.

To the north of the Mausoleum you can see Rukhobod Mausoleum one of the Monuments built by Temur. Sheih Borhouddin Sagarji and his family are buried here. Street connecting these 2 mausoleums is named after the Spanish Ambassador Lui Gonsales De Klaviho who visited the city during the Amir Temur Epoch.
