INTRODUCTION (abstract of PhD thesis) 
The aim of the research is to lexical-semantic classification of toponyms of 
Jizzakh region, based on which the names of lexical units are described, analysis of 
toponym semantics, definition of cultural semantic expression, definition of 
common and specific features of toponymy of Jizzakh region. 
The object of the research The object of the research consists of more than 
1000 toponyms collected from independent research, dialectological and 
toponymic practice from Bakhmal, Zaamin, Gallaorol, and Farish districts of 
Jizzakh region. 
The scientific novelty of the research: 
His semantic properties of toponyms as a linguistic unit, reflecting the history, 
culture, social relations of the people; 
cultural semantics in toponym semantics have been identified; the role of the 
personality factor in the formation of toponyms is defined; 
the notions, behavioral states, motivations for toponyms, and vocabulary-
based concepts have been substantiated by factual materials; 
The general features and distinctive features of Jizzakh microtoponimia with 
other ranges have been identified. 
Developed specific lexical-semantic and grammatical models of Jizzakh 
toponyms, based on the semantics of natural-geographical and socio-economic 
toponyms; 
Implementation of the research results. Based on the study of semantic 
properties of toponyms of Jizzakh region: 
The results of the thesis, scientific articles, lexicographic resources and 
factual materials on the "Semantic Features of Jizzakh Toponyms" were used to 
implement the fundamental project OT-F6-062 on the study of some regularities of 
hydrological and natural geographic processes in the Aral Sea. And Certificate of 
the Ministry of Secondary Special Education dated October 16, 2019, No. 89-03-
4037. As a result, it is possible to record small geographical objects and their 
names; 
Linguistic analysis of toponyms, especially semantic features, illustrates the 
ITD- Used in the scientific project A-1-118 "Preparation and publication of a 
textbook for images and interpretations of the image of Navoi" (2015-2017) 
Reference No. 89-03-2351 of July 1, 19). As a result, commentaries on toponyms 
and administrative units in the works of Alisher Navoi were expanded; 
From the conclusions on lexical-semantic, natural-geographical, socio-
economic bases and peculiarities of toponyms of Jizzakh region, the toponymic 
commission under Jizzakh regional khokimiyat renamed, renamed, arranged, 
renamed historic names of natural and geographical objects, used to change the 
names of the makhallas and eliminate spelling errors (reference of the Jizzakh 
regional administration number 05-156 of July 11, 2019). As a result, the 
implementation of toponymic policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the restoration 
of historical names in the toponyms of the region, the increase in the number of 
Turkic names.
