INTRODUCTION (abstract of PhD thesis) 
The aim of the research
is to develop proposals and recommendations for 
improving the pedagogical abilities of teachers of higher educational institutions 
based on the competency-based approach. 
The tasks of the research: 
determination of pedagogical and psychological 
characteristics and factors of the development of pedagogical abilities of teachers 
on the basis of a competency-based approach; 
Improving the criteria and mechanisms for assessing the development of 
pedagogical abilities of teachers; 
Improving the integrated didactic system based on the use of teachers in the 
process of continuing education, affecting the development of pedagogical 
abilities; 
Development of scientifically based proposals and recommendations for the 
development of pedagogical abilities of teachers on the basis of the competency-
based approach. 
The object of the research: 
the process of development of pedagogical 
abilities of teachers of higher educational institutions, 212 professors and 206 
students of Navoi State Pedagogical Institute, Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute, 
Urgench State University were involved in the experimental work.
 
The subject of the research 
content, forms and methodological support of 
the process of development of pedagogical abilities of higher education teachers.
