It is a film about a teacher, Erin Gruwell, and her students who study at High school in Long Beach, California in 1994. Ms G(her students call her like this) is a new teacher whose field is to teach English and literature. But at that time there is a racial segregation or kind of civil war which is barrier among her students. Because her are from different races and even they do not want to learn. They fight with each other outside th classrom, some of them do not know the names of their classmates. Firstly, Black students do not follow rules Erin told. The reason is that the teacher is white colour.Except from one student all pupils are different colours. Lots of students aged 14 or 15 years old. Erin is not supported by authorities of school, that is why she meets the person who in higher power asks help. She persuaedes him not to interrupted by school authorities and takes extra jobs in order to find more money to make school trip. She is soo good that buys books which are not given by the library of this school. She spends her nights at school reading her students diaries which she offeres to write about their own lives. She is divorced, her husband does not to live with a person whose priority is her students. That is why he leaves her. At that time her father is a good supporte to her.
After some time she succeds, her students stat to learn, show respect and love their teacher.They demand that their teacher teaches them in junior and senior years.Although the authority disagree with this demand. She finally takes her students till the end. She asks to copy their diaries to computers and gathers as a book called FREEDOM WRITERS.
I think it is based on true story cause in the end real picture demonstrated on which she and her real students described. She proves as a teacher to all that respect and discipline should not be demanded but should be reached by being honest and faithfull
