I did a 2-week internship at School No. 8 in Urgench. I attended many classes during these days. I learned their skills and teaching methods from many teachers. I learned how to apply the methods we learned theoretically at university in practice in the classroom. It seems that it is easier to teach in the upper grades than in the lower grades. It seemed much harder for the student to control the entire class. Nevertheless, many teachers were able to focus the students' attention on the lesson, that is, on a new topic. At the beginning of each lesson, the teacher greeted us as we entered the classroom and paid attention to the cleanliness of the classroom. Student attendance was taken and 3-minute daily news was reported. Then a date and a new topic were written on the board. Some teachers wanted students to write a new topic on the board themselves, some wrote it themselves.
Allocated all different time to check homework Someone asked in general Someone checked individual notebooks. Students who did well received excellent grades and those who did not did so were identified, and some teachers punished those who did not and gave them additional assignments. The topics were explained in an interesting way but little use was made of modern technology. The visual aids were made by some teachers themselves and some were pre-distributed to students. Because of the language, in almost all classes the student learned new dictionaries, in some classes there is no separate notebook for the dictionary. However, while most teachers use the Grammar translation method, although it is an old method, it has not yet lost its effectiveness. However, teachers have been advised to use new methods, such as Suggetopedia, TPR, CLL, CLT, and others. This will make the process of learning the language easier and will save you a lot of time. In the age of new technologies, it is necessary to
use a variety of innovative whiteboards, computers, televisions and tape recorders.
The first week of the practice was spent observing the lesson. It was the Silent period for us. We just sat in the back and watched the lessons
without disturbing the teacher and the students. Since there weren’t many places in the classrooms, we went into lesson analysis with our classmates in groups of 3 or 4. After class, we discussed what was right and what was wrong in our next job based on the successes and failures of the lesson, and wrote down in our diaries the knowledge and skills we learned during the day. In order to learn the skills of not only English but also other teachers, we entered other subjects such as mother tongue, Uzbek (for Russian classes), mathematics, history and so on, and mainly social sciences and humanities.
The second week of practice was a lot of fun. Teacher Iqboloy Vaisova, who is in the 4th grade, gave me the opportunity to teach and, of course, supervised me. Since the topic was Revision, I wrote a speech on the topics covered before this lesson and the students adapted it to suit themselves. Topic Restaurant meals 2 of the students played the role of waiters and 1 of the waiters played a role. They were also happy to speak English to each other. This is a method of SUGGESTOPEDIA based on the study of new things in practice.
This is a great way to learn a 2nd language without the help of your mother tongue. I wanted to test their knowledge through the game so I wrote the words on the board in large and small numbers and divided them into 2 groups The names of the group were “Kinder” and “Kitkat” and 1 student from each group took 10 seconds inside I said they had to find the word I said which I think helped them improve their speed reading and scanning, thinking more about time and fighting skills for the team.
The Kinder team won the competition and all of them were rated excellent by the teacher, while the active members of the losing team were also rated well. The homework was given to memorize the new words learned today and to prepare for the control work that will take place in the next lesson.
In conclusion, during my 2 weeks of internship, I learned a lot about the life of a teacher and my love for my profession grew even more. I need to learn how to allocate time properly and be more interested in what students think, allowing them to shamelessly ask me what they don’t understand. I also
need to pay special attention to the education of students. This will play a very important role in their future lives.
