Multiple Versions
Using multiple versions of the same texture can create more variety. Referring back to the 
trellis example, several versions of the wood texture can create the desired variety and remove 
the repetitive patterns (Fig. 9.33). CG Textures.com usually has multiple versions of a texture 
available for download.

Blemishes
Textures can have small areas of imperfection, fault, or stain. These blemishes become readily 
apparent when the textures are placed and scaled on surfaces. They are usually easy to notice 
before you render, but they are especially noticeable after rendering. 
There are two options for removing blemishes. The first is to swap out the material for a dif-
ferent image. The second is to remove the blemish from the image in an external photo-editing 
program. This is reviewed in Chapter 10. 
Distorted Hues
Some textures images are composed of contrasting colors. The contrasts can become visible 
after a texture is adjusted in a photo-editing program or using the HLS / HSB sliders: spots of 
rainbow pixels infect the texture, detracting from its appearance (Fig. 9.34). You can repair 
the effect using the Colorize option in the Paint Bucket Edit menu. Checking the Colorize 
box will allow the dominant color of the texture to fill in and replace the multihued speckles 
(Fig. 9.35).
