Part 2: Textures
Texture Map 
The selected texture will appear beyond the surface on which it’s placed. 
SketchUp is showing the tiling used to lay texture images onto model surfaces
(Fig. 8.29).

Move Texture Tool
A cursor will change to the Pan icon (a hand). Holding down the left 
mouse allows you to drag and move the texture (Fig. 8.30). Whenever a pin is inactive, the 
Pan/Move Texture function is enabled. The Move Texture option combined with texture 
rotation is useful for placing textures correctly onto a surface for maximum effect. This is 
outlined in Chapter 9. 
Any of the four pins can be selected, and each one provides a different set of options. The 
Green Pin, Red Pin, and Initial Pan options provide the most utility. The yellow and blue 
pins are seldom used. 
You might need to pan out to view the pins. To select and activate one of the pins, click and 
hold the mouse button directly over the Pin icons. Moving the mouse while holding down the 
left mouse button will cause the tool to perform its function. 
If you click and release a pin, you will be able to move the pin to a new location (Fig. 8.31). 
This is useful for setting the center of rotation, as discussed in the “Green Pin” section. If you 
need to zoom out to view and select the pins, move the red and green pins closer together. 
Position them so that they are easier to view and use.
