Part 2: Textures
Details 
The Details button controls how the material swatches will appear. They can be displayed 
in a list and even as extra-large thumbnails (large thumbnails are the default), which will 
allow you to open new material SketchUp libraries. This option is not useful for working with 
materials from your custom Texture Library. 
Material Pull-Down Menu 
The Material pull-down menu provides access to SketchUp’s native Material Library categories. 
Textures are displayed when a category is selected. Selecting a material makes it active so it 
can be applied to surfaces. 
In Model
Selecting the In Model button will display a selectable view of all the materials applied and 
present in the model. 
The Edit Tab
The Edit tab allows you to swap, insert, adjust, and scale native and custom textures. You 
should become familiar with this tab and its related functions. The Edit tab is organized by 
its own subcategories of Color, Texture, and Opacity. You can access the Edit tab only after a 
material is applied to a surface and/or selected using the Eye Dropper (Fig. 8.8).

Color
Below the Color heading on the Materials menu are options that affect the hue, saturation, 
contrast, and values of a selected color or texture map (Fig. 8.9).
