With that in mind, these chapters are meant to provide a starting point for commonly 
made modifications. They are not a comprehensive postproduction guide. Several online 
and published resources that provide addi-
tional methods are available: Check out 
Digital Drawing for Landscape Architecture by 
Bradley Cantrell and Wes Michaels (Wiley, 
2010) and Photoshop for 3D Artists, Vol. 1 by 
Andrzej Sykut, Fabio Rahonha, Zoltan Korc-
sko, and Richard Tilbury (3DTotal Publish-
ing, 2011).
Part 7 uses Photoshop CS 5.5 to demon-
strate modifications (Fig. 31.5). The content 
assumes that you are familiar with the pro-
gram (or similar software such as Gimp).
Methods
Three general types of post-processing methods are used to modify images:

Light and Color Adjustments: Modifying color, contrast, and lighting levels.

Effects: Adding atmospheric effects such as haze, blurred objects, and photo grain.

Entourage Modification: Placing realistic grass, enhancing water, and including back-
grounds, skies, and objects. You’ll learn more about these methods in Chapter 32.
