Assessment Scenes
Consider creating similar On/Off scenes to control the visibility of differing layers. For 
example, create scenes that turn off only the vegetation or furniture (Fig. 14.26, Fig. 14.27). 
Or, create any other scenes to filter different layer and component types. These filtered scenes 
can help you assess the model, including the placement of details, the model design, the 
composition for graphic views, etc.

scene is created. The scene is then renamed NO TREES. Selecting this scene will turn on all of the layers except the

toggling Layers
There are specific times when scenes should be toggled off and on. Follow these general 
guidelines to help maintain your model performance, create specific camera views, and 
generate renderings. 
Off
When you’re modeling forms, adding or adjusting geometry, keep the component detail layers 
turned off, particularly vegetation layers. This will help maintain performance and allow you 
easy access to model geometry. Turn on specific component detail layers as needed. 
Keep the layers off when you’re panning, orbiting, zooming, and generally moving around 
detailed models. 
In general, keep the vegetation layers turned off. Turn specific vegetation layers on when 
you’re editing specific model areas.
