T
he postproduction process in photo-editing software is used to enhance the quality and 
content of rendered images (Fig. 31.1, Fig. 31.2). This chapter discusses some quick and 
frequently used modifications that affect light, color, and contrast; and it includes effects such 
as atmospheric haze. Chapter 32 reviews some additional alterations you can make, including 
entourage elements and realistic detailing.
Many professional rendering artists consider post processing the key to generating high-
quality, hyper-realistic images. In fact, they often spend more time photo-editing an image 
than they do modeling or rendering it (Fig. 31.3, Fig. 31.4). These artists use endless editing 
variations and effects.
