The much overlooked and little-used Freehand drawing tool is ideal for this method. Zoom 
in close to the texture, and make sure the starting points and endpoints of the Freehand tool 
edges connect to the edge boundaries of the textures in order to subdivide the surface.
Room or Surface Transitions
Transitions between areas or surfaces are usually accompanied by a slight variation in height. 
Such transitions include edging, such as metal, wood, or plastic banding that endcaps carpets, 
and places where flooring meets another surface (Fig. 16.19, Fig. 16.20, Fig. 16.21, Fig. 16.22, 
Fig. 16.23, Fig. 16.24, Fig. 16.25).
One approach to handling a transition is to extrude or depress one or both of the surfaces 
to create a small lip between the two transition areas. The exaggeration does not need to be 
very large, usually just inches or less. Shadows added in the scene for lighting usually will cast 
a small shadow based on the minor extrusion, adding nice, subtle detail.
Consider modeling or subdividing the area between the transition or seam with an actual 
edging surface. Extrude the edging and consider push/pulling one of the adjacent surfaces as 
discussed previously.
