SketchUp Backdrops
You can create backdrops in SketchUp using two different methods: 3D model detailing or 
image placement (Fig. 15.23, Fig. 15.24). Both methods can be used in tandem to achieve some 
great effects. Interior models will benefit more from image backdrops.

Model Backdrops
3D buildings and 2D photo trees make excellent backdrops (Fig. 15.25, Fig. 15.26). Place them 
in the background and between model gaps. Combine them with image backdrops to add 
additional depth and environment. 3D Warehouse and FormFonts have both types of models, 
in particular buildings. FormFonts and DynaSCAPE Sketch3D have excellent 2D photo trees.

Image Backdrops
Image backdrops are photos applied to vertical surfaces and placed around the model’s 
background. The content of the backdrop is subjective and depends on the model. Obviously, 
using accurate images is ideal but not always possible.
