Hiding Seams
The Clone Stamp is ideal for equalizing the edges of a texture where seams appear. In many 
instances, seams become visible due to the variation of dark and light in a texture pattern. The 
Clone Stamp can be used to sample lighter or darker areas and stamp the variation out from 
the edges or sides of the texture image. 
Cropping
The edges of some textures, particularly from CG Textures.com, contain distracting artifacts, 
elements, or adjacent materials. The easiest way to remove these blemishes is to use the 
Photoshop Crop tool. Create a crop box to remove the edges with blemishes (Fig. 10.20, 
Fig.10.21, Fig.10.22).

rotating Textures
Some textures might be oriented toward the wrong direction on surfaces. For example, after 
applying a wood texture to a bench or chair, the wood grain might be oriented in an awkward 
way on all the bench slats. Or, siding added to a home could be oriented vertically instead of 
appearing horizontal.
You can change texture orientation in SketchUp by using the right-click Texture Posi-
tion tools to rotate the image on a selected surface. However, these rotations will affect only 
the selected surface. By using Photoshop, you can quickly reorient all applied versions of the 
textures. 
Select the texture and launch the external editor. Using the Photoshop Transform (Edit 
Transform) or Rotate Canvas (Image 
F
Rotate Canvas) commands, rotate the texture and then 
save it. In SketchUp, the texture will rotate in all applied instances (Fig. 10.23, Fig. 10.24, 
Fig. 10.25, Fig. 10.26, Fig. 10.27, Fig. 10.28).
