Detailing at texture edges
The term texture edges refers to the edge that is created where two textured surfaces meet—for 
example, where concrete meets a lawn or where floor tile meets carpeting or a hardwood floor.
Irregular Texture Outlines
One approach to handling texture edges is to create irregular edge outlines where the two 
textures meet, such as where a granite stone paving texture meets a lawn or similar ground 
cover (Fig. 16.15). Outline the irregular pattern of the stone texture, subdividing the texture 
edges (Fig. 16.16, Fig. 16.17). Next, apply the adjacent texture to the subdivided surface, 
creating an irregular but more realistic outline (Fig. 16.18).
