Reflection for microteaching

After learning how to design a lesson plan and getting advice for organizing an effective lesson from our teacher, I conducted a microteaching in our group. According to my lesson plan, I tried to focus mostly on vocabulary and speaking skill and how to prepare appropriate materials for my pupils. Because of short time, I mean within 45 minutes, I find it somehow complicated to manage the given time and implement all tasks. As a result of this, I only explained a few activities to the pupils and try to give good instructions. However, I can say that I was able to achieve all my aims stated in my lesson plan. The lesson plan was basically step-by-step guide for me, hence I followed it during the lesson.

I think my strongest point is organizing funny activities with different colorful handouts related to the chosen topic- “Shopping”. As a warm-up activity I chose a game called “Where can I buy?” and students really liked it as it was really amazing and funny for them. Then I organized other activities and games like “Bingo”,"Shops” and “Can I help you?” which help to enhance student's vocabulary related to the topic.

They made students work in pairs and in a group. When it comes to weak points, I can not feel sense of satisfaction while I was giving questions and at the beginning of the lesson I lost my control due to the lack of experience. Totally, I believe that I can achieve my aims, for example, during the lesson pupils could talk with each other about products in the grocery's shop in their target language and worked with their peers as a whole group. Moreover, this lesson provided the good friendly atmosphere despite the short of time.



Microteaching made a big impression on me. The most important thing is that I learnt to make a good lesson plan and choose appropriate activities for young learners. Teaching is the best job in the world. Not only because it is a noble profession, it also allows you to be continuously creative and be better professionally. In every lesson, you can hone your creativity by adding interest to capture your pupils’ attention.
