Who are the medieval Islamic thinkers?
Key words: Beruni, Farobi, Yusuf Khos Khojib.
Answer: The great encyclopedist Abu Rayhan Beruni (973-1048) created more than 150 works, in which the idea that labor is the basis of wealth is fundamental. Many of his thoughts and views have not lost their relevance to this day. In Minerology, Beruni discusses the hard labor of the miners, the prospectors of the underground, the peasants, the benefits and wages that should be given to them. Particular attention is paid to open pit and underground mining, it is recommended to use special equipment to strengthen the underground deposits (to prevent disasters), to remove groundwater, to lift the extracted ore upwards. The need to build a mining village around the mine is highlighted. In Beruni’s work, the emergence of personal needs and the basics of their satisfaction, the relationship between labor and art, are harmonized. According to him, people are forced to live and work in an organized way to meet their basic needs.
He believes that because the needs are diverse and numerous, people tend to create housing and cities together. He also thought that the emergence of the state was also due to need. The most important idea is that all valuables are created by human labor, and that human dignity is determined not by who his ancestors were, but by his labor, mental and physical mastery. The traditions of each epoch are unique, and the human mind must follow them, otherwise, if order and uniformity are lost, order will also be lost, says the great sage.
