According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the hospitality industry had a 130.7% turnover rate in 2020. This number is extremely high, but even before the pandemic, the rate was 78.9%. What factors impact this high employee turnover?
What Causes Employee Turnover?
    • Lack of opportunity for growth or career development
    • Natural career progression
    • Internal promotion or transfer
    • Feeling overworked/burnout
    • Negative feelings towards boss or management
    • Toxic work environment
    • Family or life event
    • Competitive offer
    • Lack of work-life balance

Objectives
1. To describe what is job satisfaction;
2. To explain importance of job satisfaction in hospitality industry;
3. To correlate employee job
satisfaction with staff turnover;
4. To make questionnaire among the waiters in Uzbekistan;
5. To find out factors effecting job satisfaction of the waiters.
methodology
The primary research method for this research paper is literature review and survey.
Not Enough Opportunities for Growth
Many hospitality workers start out in the industry at a young age - in fact, hospitality positions are often first jobs for high school and college students. However, not many choose to stay in the industry throughout their careers. One of the biggest contributing factors to this is the actual or perceived lack of opportunities for career advancement.
No Recognition
Hospitality positions are often demanding, consuming jobs with long hours, irregular schedules, and lots of potential stress.
But consistently working hard only for that work to (seemingly) go unnoticed can quickly lead to burnout and resentment.
