Muhammad Ali's translation
Qarang sochum oqardi oppoq,
Keksayishdan emas bu mutloq,
Yoki dahshat, qo'qqis kelgan g'am
Bu kechada oqartmadi ham,
Manglayimku ajinga to'liq,
Na mehnat, na issiq - sovuq yo'q,
Zindon etdi adoi tamom,
Yorug' kundan mahrum beorom,
Diqqinafas yashab zanjirband,
Bo'libqoldimoqibatdardmand.
Muhammad Ali used the richness and delicacy of the Uzbek language and the original version to artistically express the deep meaning of these verses by the English genius, Byron. Ali kept original meaning and rhymes in Uzbek for the English words. The original says, "Their belief with blood have seal'd". Ali translated this as "Qalb qatiga tushmasin deb dog'". In addition, for the ending of the whole poem "Proud of Persecution's rage", which is a very important part, Ali presented it a bit more simply as "E'tiqod deb o'lim va kishan" without any emphasis. Muhammad Ali had an imaginative mind and managed to deliver its meaning in the Uzbek language.
