The first session of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR of the twelfth convocation was held in Tashkent on March 24-31, 1990. On March 24, 1990, the session was the first among the republics to adopt the law "On the establishment of the post of President of the Uzbek SSR." Karimov was elected President of Uzbekistan.18 The election of President Islam Karimov made it possible to make radical changes. The citizens of Uzbekistan have begun to demonstrate a consistent solution to the problems of future generations, peace and tranquility.
