❓What’s your favourite TV programme?
I’m more into watching comedy and drama, well for the obvious reasons. As I want to be entertained, watching them helps me to let off steam. I’m just like all the people in the world who want to relieve work-related stress. I want to laugh through comedy series and I want to be inspired and sometimes cry by watching TV dramas.
❓What types of TV programme are popular in your country?
In my country, reality shows and comedy shows have been the most popular TV programs lately. I guess it’s because its content is suitable for the audience of any age from children to the elderly. The fans of reality shows feel interactive and familiar with the competitors while that of comedy shows generally want to be entertained with jokes and laughter.
❓Do you ever watch foreign programs or films?
Oh! I love watching them. My favorite series is that of Sherlock Holmes and Friends. I mean they are so amazing that I am on my toes for most of the time and the way film characters act is completely fabulous. I genuinely don’t know why I watch these films, I think it’s got something to do with seeing how life is in other countries and how people live their life.
❓Do you think television has changed in the past few decades/(Possibly) Do you think television has changed since you were a child?
Televisions indeed have been changing remarkably for the past few years. The technology has become so innovative and competitive to meet the customers’ high demand for entertainment. The variety of TV programs is no longer limited to the national level but has reached to a number of foreign countries, and is significantly diversifying in content for audience preference.
❓Why do some people watch TV shows online?
Some people watch them online because they want to get updated information about those TV series. On top of that, they may be pressed for time and have a busy schedule, so they can’t manage to watch them for long hours. They just see the particular episode at any time that works for them and amuse themselves.
❓Why do people dislike watching TV?
Well, one possible reason is that they consider their time as precious and don't prefer wasting it in front of a TV. Also, some people who are swamped in their work or as busy as a bee cannot spare time in front of TV as well.
❓What benefits can people get from watching foreign TV programs?
Well, foreign TV programs not only enhance the communication skills of a person, but also widen their outlook. Also, thanks to having an exposure to spoken language, language learners can improve their comprehension skills, pronunciation and grammar through watching TV. It has been confirmed by many research papers that language learners who frequently watch foreign-language TV programs outside of school tend to be better at reading, listening and vocabulary.
❓Is it possible for you to watch any TV programs in English?
I hate to say, but no. Most programs that are being streamed are either in Uzbek or Russian language, as there isn’t a huge demand for watching them in English in my country. Most young people who want to watch them, turn to Internet rather than TV, as the sky is the only limit to it and you can definitely have an access to everything you are looking for.
