INTRODUCTION (abstract of PhD thesis) 
The aim: is the determination of the species composition of algal flora of the lower 
reaches of the Zarawschan River, the identification of algae-indicators of saprobiс for the 
assessment of the sanitary-ecological of water quality situation. 
The object of the research: objects of the research areis is the algal flora of the 
lower reaches of the Zarawschan River. 
The scientific novelty of the research is as follows:
294 species and varieties (227 species, 61 variations, 6 forms) of algae belonging to 
94 genus, 53 families, 33 orders, 11 classes from 5 divisions were identified; algoflora of 
the lower reaches of the Zarawschan River are first studied;
for the first time, 21 algae species new to Uzbekistan and Central Asia were 
identified, belonging to 3 divisions, 5 classes, 6 orders, 10 families, 16 genera; 
revealed changes in the number of species of algal flora over the seasons of the year 
and along the river; 
the presence of parasites in algae was first identified the genus and species 
Sanchytrium tribonemae of the algae fungus was determined, based on the results of 
DNA analysis their phylogenetic tree was created,; 
species-indicators of saprobic were studied and the water quality of the lower 
reaches was first evaluated using the saprobic index;
