Abstract:
This article discusses the role of grammar in learning and speaking foreign
languages fluently and whether it is possible to speak without grammar.
Key words:
Fluency in a foreign language,
translation, vocabulary, grammar,
learning by hearing, methods, learning continuously .
Learning foreign languages, which is one of the most important fields today, is useful
and interesting for all of us. In this article, you can find answers to questions such as the role
of grammar in learning foreign languages, when it is very necessary and when it is possible
to communicate in foreign languages without it. Nelson Mandela said : " If you speak to a
man in a language he understands, you speak with his mind, if you speak in his mother
tongue, you speak with his heart".
Language, which is a means of communication, can be practiced in a natural way, that
is, in the family, in the community, and in the classes.
Suppose that most students and pupils who are currently studying typically learn three
languages. The first one is everyone's own mother tongues. Then the second language and
additional foreign language. Mother tongue is a language that plays a very important role in
the formation of thinking.In order to learn a foreign language, first of all, we need to know
our native language well. This will make it easier to compare words, rules, and phrases with
other languages. For instance, "non- das Brot - bread" mean that "Food prepared in a certain
form from flour products and baked in the oven or stove". We connect concepts that have
already been formed in our own language with the words of the language we are now
learning.
We can use various methods to learn foreign languages. Tha main methods are 4 :
translating method;
the right method;
Mixed method ;
Comparative method.
Carreres Angeles also describes translation-based language teaching as follows:
"Translation is an artificial exercise that has no place in communicative methodology and it
limits language practise to only two skills: reading and writing."

They play very important role in learning foreign language. In addition, grammar also
plays an important role in language learning. But you don‘t even have to learn grammar
