As global trade increases, many goods, including those we use on a daily basis, are 
produced in other countries and have to be transported long distances. 
 
Do the benefits of this trend outweigh the drawbacks? 
Introduction 
There has been a significant increase in global trade over recent decades and this has meant 
that goods that we consume each day are often transported over long distances. Although this 
trend has drawbacks, I believe that overall this is a positive development.
