Use Case Templates (1)

There are many different templates for use cases but they 
often consist of a subset of the following items:
•
Identifier
: unique label for use case used to reference it 
elsewhere
•
Name
: succinctly state user task independently of the 
structure or implementation
• Suggested form “verb object” (e.g., Order a product)
•
Authors
: people who discovered use case
•
Goal
: short description of expected outcome from actors’
point of view
•
Preconditions
: what needs to be satisfied before use case 
can begin
•
Postconditions
: state of system after completion of use case
• Minimal guarantee: state of system after completion regardless of 
outcome
