Rule 1: The subject is the person or thing carrying out the action in a sentence.

receiving end of the action. It is the thing being done to. (In this case, a  simple
sentence  .  What  did  I  write?  A  simple  sentence.)  To  determine  the  subject  of  a
sentence, first find the verb and then ask who? or what? is doing the action. The
answer will be the subject.
Rule  2:  In  a  straightforward  English  sentence  the  subject  will  come  first,  the
verb second and the object third.
