to know and appreciate the contribution of
Russian scientists to world
science;
to experience feelings of pride in it, show their own moral qualities in
learning activities.
Preparation and presentation of educational projects will allow to carry out
our plans. We will describe the main directions of such work.
1.
Acquaintance with the life and work of internationally recognized domestic
scientists-mathematicians (L. Euler, N.I. Lobachevsky, M.V. Ostogradsky,
A.N. Kolmogorov, L.S. Pontryagin, etc.) through the creation of biographical
essays and presentations that reveal their personal experience and the content
of their activities. The inclusion of students in the discussion of actions and
various facts from the lives of these wonderful people.
For example, the first independent research of A.N. Kolmogorov (for younger
students), vision loss of L.S. Pontryagin and ways to overcome this problem (for
teenagers), active citizenship of N.I. Lobachevsky (for senior students).
2.
Preparation of brief historical references on
the discoveries of domestic
mathematicians of different historical periods and other near-mathematical
events; design of presentations, wall newspapers (traditional or interactive) or
video clips devoted to a particular fact in domestic or world mathematics.
For example, notes about the Russian mathematician Grigoriy Perelman
nominated for a world-class award or about the participation of Russian
schoolchildren in mathematical olympiads and their achievements in this field.
3.
Creative acquaintance with historical literary sources in mathematics, modern
works in the field of popular mathematics and their authors. These projects
can be implemented by a group of students. Their result can be a major extra-
curricular event - a mathematical holiday.
The choice of book depends on the age of the students. Mathematician V.A.
Levshin wrote fairy tales for younger students. Ya. I. Perelman popularized
mathematics
for
people
of
different
ages.
«Arithmetic» of L.F. Magnitsky is useful for studying the future teacher of
mathematics.
4.
Writing a text task or books, relevant to the topic being studied and based on
information from the history of the fatherland,
domestic and world
mathematics or mathematical education.
In February 2018, students of the Institute of Pedagogy took part in the project «I
want to know more about the presidential elections in the Russia». They created
thematic tasks for younger pupil and described the methods of working with
them. Here is an example task.
Task 1
. In 2018, eight candidates applied for the presidency. Find out the age of
each one. Position candidates as they age. Who is the youngest, and who is the
oldest of them.
5.
Familiarity with the life and work of famous scientists associated with the
region of residence of students. Search for opportunities to realize the social
orientation of such projects.

Acquaintance with fellow scientists, who are proud of this region, is the
primary component in shaping the patriotic feelings of students. This acquaintance
can begin in a preschool institution and permeate all other levels of education. For
example, for the Kaluga region, it will be such scientists as K.E. Tsiolkovsky, A.L.
Chizhevsky, P.L. Chebyshev, A.Y. Khinchin et al.
Through
an educational project, students can learn how the memory of
outstanding ancestors is preserved and enhanced in this region. For example, the
presence of streets, named after them, museums, memorial plaques, monuments,
commemorative medals and awards.
The streets of Kaluga are the names of outstanding scientists - Chebyshev,
Tsiolkovsky, Chizhevsky. Kaluga State University is
named after an outstanding
thinker, teacher, remarkable self-taught scientist and inventor K.E. Tsiolkovsky.
P.L. Chebyshev was born in the village of Okatovo. A monument to him is
installed on the site of the house where the scientist grew up.
In the Kaluga region there is a house-museum of K.E. Tsiolkovsky, house-
museum N.I. Chizhevsky, office-museum N.I. Chizhevsky at KSU. Museum
apartment
K.E.
Tsiolkovsky
is
located
in
Borovsk.
The life of Konstantin Eduardovich is immortalized in several memorial plaques,
monuments and street painting (Pic. 1, Pic. 2).

Kaluga students should be aware that their compatriot P. L. Chebyshev (Pic.
3) is one of the greatest mathematicians in the world, the founder of the Petersburg
School of Mathematics and a talented inventor. He perceived the development of
mathematics in Russia as his patriotic duty. Therefore, he directed all his strength
to the teaching of mathematics and its improvement,
the popularization of
mathematics and help in the field of mathematics to everyone [1].
In cases where the memory of ancestors is perpetuated, you should use and
increase the accumulated potential (visit the museum; organize and conduct a tour
of the street, named after the scientist, or to a memorable place). If this work is not
implemented in full, then you should consider how it can be carried out. For
example, having designed a new park in memory of the scientist.
As a result of such activities, students should learn that pride in fellow
compatriots is natural, but should not go to the level of national superiority. A.P.
Chekhov noted that «there is no national science, just as there is no national
multiplication table».
