INTRODUCTION (abstract of PhD thesis) 
The aim of the research work 
is to elucidate semantic content of the 
category of comparativeness contrastively in English and Uzbek languages on the 
syntactic level. 
The object of the research 
is the sentences in which comparativeness is 
expressed in the literary works of English and Uzbek writers as Th. Dreiser,
N. Roberts, R. Soesbee, B. Shaw, T. Chevalier, W.S. Maugham, Mirmuhsin,
P. Kadirov, Takhir Malik, Shukhrat, U. Khoshimov. 
The scientific novelty of the research:
it has been proved that lexical means (nouns, adjectives, verbs, postpositions 
and reflexive pronoun «ўзи») are productive in Uzbek and morphological means (-
oid, -like, -ly, -esque, -ian, -an, -ic, -ish) are in English language in the expression 
of the category of comparativeness; 
the syntactic connections of comparative elements with other components in 
English and Uzbek sentence structures have been demonstrated by the use of 
junction models, as a result, it has been determined towards which part of a 
sentence, comparativeness is expressed; 
nouns, adjectives, verbs, postpositions and conjunctions expressing 
comparativeness have been proved on the basis of the explanation of differential 
syntactic signs and morphological features of syntactic units in sentences with 
comparative elements on the basis of component models; 
as a result of studying syntaxeme content of sentences expressing 
comparativeness, 17 non-categorical differential syntactic-semantic signs, which 
are expressed on the basis of substantial comparative, processual comparative and 
qualificative comparative syntaxemes, have been worked out;
