An Introduction to Hyatt’s University Programs

Personal experiences
This summer, I was able to work the front desk at
the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach and had the
best summer of my life! The people, whether guests,
coworkers, or managers, all fostered me into a better
person and always wanted the best from me. Through
many ups and downs, working this summer made me
realize how amazing of a company Hyatt is and I am
eager to embark in more journeys.
The CMT program was exactly what I needed when
I graduated with my hospitality degree. My college
classes were great, but the CMT program was almost
like a “master’s program in all things hotel” as it gave
me intensive and focused interactions with all the
different functional areas of the hotel. Not only was
it extremely educational, it also helped me figure out
the best fit for me in my hospitality career.
COURTNEY REARDON, 2019 Summer Intern

PAUL DALY, Senior VP, Select Service
CMT class of 1989
Working for Hyatt was honestly one of the best
experiences I have ever had. I have never felt so
professionally pushed while being so personally
cared for in my life. Within my three months there,
my colleagues truly became my family, I was so sad
to leave them, but I know it was just a see you later.
JUSTIN SHIN, 2019 Summer Intern
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
The CMT program has given me the unique opportunity
to explore all of the various moving parts within a hotel
to truly understand all of the fine details that make the
operation a well-oiled machine. It’s been the perfect
bridge between college life and the start of my career.
SUZY TEKIN, 2019 Operations CMT
University of Massachusetts, Amherst
I chose Hyatt in 1986 because I viewed the comp
days as work/life balance. I am proud that 33 years
later, that is still a compelling reason to work for Hyatt.
DAVID LEWIN, Senior VP, Sales & Revenue
CMT class of 1986
In my 32 years with Hyatt, no one thing prepared
me better for being a leader than Hyatt’s Corporate
Management Trainee program. It taught me the
importance of building relationships across all
functions and instilled in me tremendous empathy
for how the hard work each of our colleagues contributes
to the success of each property and the company.
