Lesson objectives:
Practical: to introduce and practise new topic 
vocabulary;
to practise listening for gist and detailed 
information;
Educational: to learn about the famous British 
playwright George Bernard
Shaw an his bet known play, Pygmalion;
to improve the pupils’ worldwide outlook;
Progressive: to ask and give information about 
literary figures and their
work using Wh – questions
Expected results
At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to
• practise talking about plays;
• to practise new vocabulary related to the theatre;
• to practise asking an answering Wh – questions;
Materials:
a textbook, a blackboard, computer
slide projector, posters, colored pictures, flashcards.
1. Motivation. 
Eliciting the theme of the previous 
lesson.
Teacher shows the pupils several cards and stick 
them on the board in random order. Each card must 
have the words and connected with theatre. Then 
teacher asks pupils to look at the pictures and words 
to find the theme of the previous lesson. The theme 
is 
Who is who in the theatre
.
(
In this stage teacher 
should use only English and smile so that his pupils 
could feel English and friendly atmosphere in the 
classroom).
2. Consolidation of the previous lesson and 
asking homework
In this stage teacher asks the pupils’ homework. 
Then he asks questions to consolidate pupils’ 
knowledge on the previous lesson. Questions may be:
If you staged a play in your school, what would 
each of you like to do?
Who can make up the faces of actors and actress?
Can you play musical instruments?
