IeS profiles
IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) 
profiles are standard data files that include 
photometric data of actual lights—i.e., 
a digital profile of real-world lights. IES 
lights are always spotlights. The light’s 
characteristics depend completely on the 
profile itself.
IES profiles are available from most 
lighting manufacturer’s websites (Fig. 24.13). 
You can download the light profiles and 
import them into an IRP to use actual data 
to simulate a specific light output based on 
the photometric for the product or light type 
(Fig. 24.14, Fig. 24.15).

Light-emitting Materials
Selected textures can be transformed into light-emitting materials (LEMs). Usually, this will 
cause all versions of the material to cast light. Some IRPs cause the material to glow without 
casting light. LEMs are usually set as texture values, not through a Lighting menu (Fig. 26.16, 
Fig. 26.17, Fig. 26.18).
