Artisan ruby Script
Dale Martins, a civil engineer in Canada, created a set of very powerful tools to create complex, 
organic shapes and to work with terrain models. The script’s website includes tutorials and 
instructions. Understanding how these tools work and what they can do takes some practice 
(Fig. 16.43).

Instant roof/Instant road
From the Island of Kauai, Vali Architects have created a series of Ruby Scripts useful for 
terrain and building modeling. They are complex and powerful parametric Ruby Scripts that 
allow you to grade a road into a terrain model from a simple center line. They include a tool for 
creating complex, parametric roofs for buildings with many options. They also include a tool 
for grading objects, steps, buildings, and walls into terrain models (Fig. 16.44, Fig. 16.45, 
Fig. 16.46).
