ACKGROUND
 
Eurasia Foundation (EF) announces a call for applications for the Research Apprenticeship 
Program (RAP). RAP is part of Social Innovation in Central Asia (SICA), a five-year program 
funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented 
by EF. The goal of SICA is to cultivate a vibrant and responsive civil society in Central Asia.
To foster the professional growth of up to eight young researchers, EF is launching the 
Research Apprenticeship Program for Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. 
RAP is designed to improve the capacity of researchers to undertake evidence-based public 
policy research through substantive apprenticeships at host organizations. Apprenticeships will 
be hosted at experienced analytical centers, research organizations, transparency advocacy 
organizations and universities that are willing and able to mentor young researchers through 
practical joint field research.

VERVIEW
 
The Research Apprenticeship Program will run up to six months between 
April 2022 and 
September 2022
, supporting an exchange of knowledge and experience between mentors and 
apprentices.
Priority Themes 
Selected on a competitive basis, host organizations will provide young researchers with hands-
on training and mentoring as part of joint field research projects in the following broad thematic 
areas of analysis:

Anticorruption oversight
– national, regional or municipal governmental policies or 
programs related to budget transparency, anti-corruption measures, or financial 
management and expenditures (including public procurement and contracting)
