human development using cross-country regression for 76 developing countries over
the period of 1960 to 1992. The analysis indicates that countries with initial lop-sided
development favouring economic growth always lapse into the vicious circle category of
poor human development outcomes over time where as countries that emphasise
human development initially can move into the virtuous circle category - where in good
human development reinforces growth which in turn promotes human development.
