Firstly, it is difficult for many arts institutions to generate much profit

 because people are not 
prepared to pay high entrance fees for places such as art galleries or theatres, so without some help 
from the government, such places may have to close.

 Also, the arts have an important 
impact on our quality of life, 
(Exp)
 with many people getting great pleasure in going to see music and 
theatre performances. 
(Reason 3)
 Not only this, the performing arts and literary arts such as dance 
and books help to keep our culture and history alive for future generations. 
 
To conclude, I do not believe spending money on the arts is a waste. A balance should be achieved to 
ensure public services are maintained and the arts remain available to all.
