John C. Markowitz, M.D.,
is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University
College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Research Psychiatrist at the New York State
Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Markowitz is an internationally recognized expert in psy-
chotherapy research who has conducted NIMH- and foundation- funded studies of
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), cognitive behavioral therapies, and medications.
He has studied treatments of mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, and has pub-
lished more than 300 peer- reviewed articles, chapters, and reviews.
