18.  The system  o f Education  in  Uzbekistan.
T he  system   o f   public  education  in  U zbekistan  includes  preschool  education, 
prim ary  education,  secondary  ed u catio n   and  h ig h er  education.  P reschool  education 
includes  creches  and  nursery  schools.  C hildren  under  th ree  are  taken  to  the  creches. 
T he  k indergartens  accept  child ren   betw een  the  ages  from   three  to  six.  P rim ary  school 
co n sists o f  a  th ree-y ear course  fo r ch ild ren  at the age o f  six years old.
T h e  system   o f  public  ed u catio n   in  U zbekistan  is  based  on  com pulsory  ten-year 
o r  11  y ear school  for all  citizens.
G eneral  secondary  schools  are th e  m ost w ide  spread educational  institutions  for 
all  children.
A fter  com pleting  the  9lh  form   som e  pupils  en ter  vocational  technical  schools 
w hich  give  secondary  education  a n d   m atriculation  certificates.  A t  the  end  o f   ninth 
form ,  pupils  have  a  special  test.  A ccording  to  the  results  o f   this  test  and  their 
intellectual  abilities,  som e  o f   them   choose  to  program m   to  colleges  o r  lyceum s. 
Studying  at  colleges  o r  lyceum s,  th e  pupils  h ave  the  opportunity  to  receive  a  good 
v ocational  education,  and  secondary  education  at  the  sam e  tim e.  A t  p resent  there  are 
new  types  o f  schools  o f  U zbekistan.  Such  as  lyceum   and  gym nasium .  T hose  pupils 
w ho  d ecid e  to  continue  studying  at  school  learn  in  classes  w ith  a  different  aim   and 
co n ten t  H istory,  m athem atics.  A t  the  end  o f  the  eleventh  form  they  receive  a  school 
leaving  certificate.  H igher  education  in  U zbekistan  includes  U niversities,  Institutes, 
co n serv ato ries,  etc.  M any  pupils  e n ter  U niversities  and  institutions  to  take  higher 
education.  S tudents  at  colleges,  lyceum s,  U niversities  and  institutions  usually  receive 
state  scholarships.  N ow   the  system   o f   continuous  education  is  o rganized  in 
U zbekistan.
